This was the second session in a series of student loan webinars. It provided an introduction to the different types of relief available to student loan borrowers who have been subjected to illegal, unfair, or deceptive school practices. It covered how to identify school-based claims, how to prepare closed school and false certification (ability-to-benefit) discharge applications, and how to present school-based claims as a defense to loan repayment. It also covered the advantages and limitations of each type of relief, as well as recent developments. This webinar didnt cover basic background information on federal student loans, so we recommend prior participation in the April 22, 2015 webinar.

Speakers: Robyn Smith, Of Counsel, National Consumer Law Center and Toby Merrill, Director, Project on Predatory Student Lending, Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School
